Peab has been commissioned to build Hallerna School in Stenungsund. The customer is Stenungsund Municipality and the contract is worth SEK 148 million.
As Stenungsund grows so does the need for more schools. After 70 years of service Stenungsund Municipality has decided to close Stenungsund School. Peab has therefore been commissioned to build a new middle school in Hallerna in Stenungsund. The school will house 540 students divided into 18 classes in grades 7 to 9. The school will also take in 150 students in the sixth grade from other schools for home economics, lab and languages.
“We’ve already built a K-6 school in the area so we are particularly pleased to continue contributing to community building by erecting a middle school in Stenungsund. As community builders we take being part of the vital work of creating a school that will exist for many generations to come very seriously. Peab is the construction company that builds the most schools in the country, which means we have broad expertise and experience in the field,” says Liselott Bergkvist, Region Manager Peab.
The school will be three floors with classrooms, tech classrooms, an aula, an industrial kitchen and administrative offices. The contract also includes creating an inviting outdoor environment. The schoolyard will include two multi-fields and an outdoor gym as well as a stage to lead different kinds of physical activity from.
“The fact that we’re building a completely new middle school according to our needs is a clear and positive sign that our municipality is growing and developing. Naturally it’s great to continue educating citizens of the world in inspiring and functional surroundings,” says Olof Lundberg, Chairman of the Municipal Board of Stenungsund Municipality.
The project is a turnkey contract. Construction is planned to start in the fall of 2021 and the school is expected to be completed in the summer of 2023.
The project will be order registered in the third quarter 2021.
