Peab has been commissioned to carry out a new civil engineering contract in Stockholm’s Meatpacking District in southern Stockholm. The customer is the City of Stockholm and the contract is worth SEK 113 million.
The contract is part of the City of Stockholm's efforts to develop Stockholm’s Meatpacking District into a lively and sustainable city district. The project, which prioritizes sustainability and the climate, entails building and reconstructing streets, pipeline work and fine grading in the eastern part of Stockholm’s Meatpacking District. The work will be done completely fossil free by using emission-free machines. Reuse will be particularly focused on and all excavated soil will be recycled to contribute to circular material flows.

"The City of Stockholm has high ambitions when it comes to the climate. The overall goal is for Stockholm to be climate positive by 2030 and fossil free by 2040. The city must take the lead and intends to phase out fossil energy as early as 2030. The contract in Stockholm’s Meatpacking District is part of our efforts to realize these goals and do our part for a better climate," says Mats Johansson, Implementation Manager at the City of Stockholm's Development Office.
The project is a traditional contract. Work will start in December 2025 and is expected to be completed in 2029.
The project will be order registered in the fourth quarter 2025.
