Peab has been commissioned to build LF Bergslagen's new office and customer center, Nya Njord, in central Västerås. The customer is LF Bergslagen and the contract is worth SEK 176 million.
The project is part of developing a more vibrant, sustainable and modern city block in downtown Västerås.
The project entails developing the existing building to meet current demands on sustainability and function. Peab will also build another floor that will add modern and flexible workspaces, while the façade will be opened up and brightened to create a more inviting and active streetscape along Kopparberg Street. A key part of the project is preserving the original frame, which greatly reduces climate impact by saving material and avoiding unnecessary demolition work. The renovated property will serve as a modern office building and customer center for LF Bergslagen in central Västerås.
"We’re very proud of having been entrusted with following Nya Njord into the production phase. The project is based on strong and well-functioning collaboration between all the parties involved. The fact that we are now taking the next step is a testament to the driving force in the project and the shared commitment to creating a sustainable and modern workplace for LF Bergslagen," says Nils Staffansson, Region Manager Peab.
The project will be certified according to Miljöbyggnad Gold with a focus on energy efficiency, modern materials and a good indoor environment.
The project is a turnkey contract in partnering. Construction will start in the summer of 2026 and the project is expected to be completed by the end of 2027.
This construction contract was preceded by a so-called phase 1 contract where Peab was contracted to work with the customer to find an optimized product with the right quality and to manage risks and opportunities. The project is now entering phase 2 after signing a construction contract that entails production.
The project will be order registered in business area Construction in the second quarter 2026.
