Peab builds new water pipelines in Norsborg

Peab has been commissioned to build new water pipelines in Norsborg in Botkyrka Municipality. The customer is Stockholm Vatten och Avfall AB and the contract is worth SEK 330 million.

The work is part of an ongoing development of Stockholm’s water infrastructure and will improve delivery reliability for future needs.

The project is divided into two partial stretches, A and C, in the project New construction V1400 between Norsborg waterworks and Alby and comprises new construction of about 3.5 kilometers main water pipelines in southern Stockholm. Stretch A runs between Norsborg waterworks and Brunna and entails excavation and new construction of about 2.3 kilometers steel pipes. Stretch C comprises the stretch Hallunda Road-Fittja School and entails excavation and new construction of about 1.2 kilometers steel pipes. Peab will coordinate implementation of the projects. Their purpose is to reinforce and ensure drinking water supplies in Stockholm for the future.

"These are important projects for Stockholm’s long-term water supply. We’re pleased to be entrusted by Stockholm Vatten och Avfall and look forward to contributing with our expertise in advanced pipeline construction in complex environments," says Carl Johan Söderberg, Region Manager Peab.

The work will be conducted with a spotlight on coordination, safety and minimal impact on the surroundings.

The projects are traditional contracts. Work will start after the summer of 2026 and is expected to be completed in the autumn of 2029.

The project will be order registered in the first quarter 2026.
